HOW DO YOU CHECK YOUR PLUMBER OR HEATING ENGINEER IS QUALIFIED?
The most important thing to remember is to check that your gas engineer is on the Gas Safe Register, even if it states on their van, card or website that they are or you’re taking a recommendation from friends and family.
If they’re not on the GAS SAFE REGISTER, they’re not qualified to work on any gas appliance in your home.
Your engineer should carry with them an ID card, with their engineer number and photo which clearly states if they are qualified to complete the work. You should further check this ID against the nice people at the Gas Safe Register. Their online service means you can check the company or engineer before you book them. Engineers are issued with a new ID card annually, and each new card will have a different licence number.
